Owner and Managing Director Jochen Kiess came from Stuttgart in Germany and found Maravu Plantation Resort in 1995 after travelling the world to find the perfect, romantic place. Maravu is a Fijian word and means: "tranquil or peaceful", such as the calmness of a lagoon on a clear, wind-free day. Jochen's background covers a diverse range of professional skills and experiences in addition to his hotel management. He is an accomplished lawyer, and is well-known as a wine conoisseur, being a regular contributor to the Fiji lifestyle magazine 'Living in Fiji'.
